Evercare Hospital Dhaka Raises Awareness on Diabetes through Rally

Evercare Hospital Dhaka successfully organized a community awareness rally on World Diabetes Day, aimed at educating the public on diabetes prevention, early detection, and effective long-term management. The event brought together healthcare professionals and hospital staff to promote healthier lifestyles and raise awareness about diabetes risk factors.

The rally, held under the theme “Diabetes in the workplace”, started from the hospital’s main entrance and included educational activities, poster displays and interactive counselling sessions conducted by the hospital’s Diabetology & Endocrinology experts.

Among the distinguished guests present at the rally were Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Sarker, Coordinator & Senior Consultant, Diabetology & Endocrinology; Dr. Ahsanul Haq Amin, Senior Consultant, Diabetology & Endocrinology; Dr. Nazmul Islam, Senior Consultant, Diabetology & Endocrinology; and Dr. Fahmida Zabeen, Senior Consultant, Paediatrics & Neonatology. Hospital leadership, including Dr. Ratnadeep Chaskar, CEO & Managing Director, Evercare Hospitals, Bangladesh, and Dr. Arif Mahmud, Group Medical Director, Evercare Hospitals, Bangladesh also attended the rally to show their support and engage with participants.

Commenting on the event, Dr. Ratnadeep Chaskar, CEO & Managing Director, Evercare Hospitals, Bangladesh, said, “The successful turnout demonstrates the community’s growing awareness of diabetes and the importance of proactive health management. Initiatives like this allow us to educate people on early detection and encourage healthier lifestyle choices.”

Community-focused events such as this rally strengthen our commitment to helping people manage chronic diseases like diabetes.”

Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan Sarker, Coordinator & Senior Consultant, Diabetology & Endocrinology Department, said, “Regular screening is the first step in diabetes prevention. Early detection allows patients to control blood sugar through lifestyle modifications and medication, reducing the risk of serious complications such as kidney disease, heart disease, and neuropathy.”

Dr. Ahsanul Haq Amin, Senior Consultant, Diabetology & Endocrinology Department, said, “Awareness about diabetes is not just for patients but for families and communities. Education on proper diet, portion control, regular physical activity, and stress management can help prevent the onset of diabetes in high-risk individuals.”

Dr. Nazmul Islam, Senior Consultant, Diabetology & Endocrinology Department, said, “Managing diabetes requires a comprehensive approach. Alongside regular medical check-ups, patients should focus on maintaining a healthy body weight, limiting sugar intake, and understanding their blood sugar trends to make informed lifestyle choices.”

Dr. Fahmida Zabeen, Senior Consultant, Paediatrics & Neonatology Department, said, “Diabetes among children is becoming more common, mainly due to modern lifestyles and poor eating habits. It can affect anyone from infants to teenagers. So, if you notice any symptoms at any age of children, consult a specialist doctor and help raise awareness among people.”
