•Dr. Sharmin Rozhana currently serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology at AIMST University, Malaysia, bringing extensive expertise in virology and medical education. She earned her M.Phil in Virology from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka in 2013, following her MBBS degree from the University of Rajshahi (Rangpur Medical College) in 2005. These qualifications have established her as a certified medical practitioner registered with the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council and as a specialist virologist registered in 2015.
•With over 15 years of academic experience, Dr. Rozhana has made significant contributions to medical education. Since September 2016, she has been serving at AIMST University where she conducts teaching activities for medical, dental, and physiotherapy students through various innovative methods including problem-based learning, team-based learning, and online instruction. Her responsibilities extend to curriculum development, student assessment coordination, and postgraduate research supervision in the university's molecular biology laboratory. Prior to this international appointment, she served as Assistant Professor of Microbiology at Nightingale Medical College and Hospital, Dhaka (2014-2016) and as Lecturer at Marks Dental College (2006-2009) in Bangladesh.
•Dr. Rozhana has demonstrated exceptional research capabilities with multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, including studies on HIV seropositive patients, breast cancer biomarkers, and central nervous system infections. Her thesis work focused on opportunistic pathogens in HIV patients, reflecting her specialization in virology. She actively participates in academic conferences and has received training in advanced teaching methodologies, biosafety protocols, and research techniques through numerous workshops in Malaysia and internationally.
•As a dedicated educator, Dr. Rozhana coordinates microbiology courses across various programs including MBBS, Dentistry, and Physiotherapy at AIMST University. She has played key roles in curriculum design for MSc Medical Microbiology and BSc Biomedicine programs. Her technical expertise encompasses various laboratory techniques including PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, and microbial culture methods. Recognized for her outstanding performance, she received an 88% rating in AIMST University's 2019 performance appraisal.
•Dr. Rozhana maintains active membership in professional organizations including the International Society for Infectious Diseases and Bangladesh Medical Association. Her comprehensive experience bridges clinical virology with academic medicine, making her an asset in medical education and research. She continues to contribute to the advancement of microbiological sciences through her teaching, research supervision, and participation in international academic collaborations.
