Dr. Sheikh Ul Alam

Dr. Sheikh Ul Alam is an experienced Critical Care Physician specializing in the management of critically ill adult patients, with expertise in intensive care medicine, emergency and ICU settings, mechanical ventilation, bronchoscopy, sepsis management, multi-organ failure, emergency Sustained Low-Efficiency Dialysis (SLED) management, and Percutaneous Dilatational Tracheostomy (PDT). With extensive clinical experience across leading tertiary care hospitals in Bangladesh, he is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care through a multidisciplinary approach.

Currently, Dr. Sheikh Ul Alam serves as Attending Consultant in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) & Critical Care Unit at Evercare Hospital Chattogram, a position he has held since June 2026. Prior to this role, he served as Specialist – MICU at the same institution from March 2024 to May 2026, where he managed critically ill patients requiring advanced life support, invasive monitoring, and comprehensive multidisciplinary intensive care.

Before joining Evercare Hospital Chattogram, Dr. Sheikh Ul Alam worked as Junior Consultant in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) under the COVID-19 Emergency Response and Pandemic Preparedness (ERPP) Project of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). During this period, he provided comprehensive critical care services for patients with severe medical illnesses and contributed significantly to strengthening intensive care services during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. He also served as Junior Consultant at the 10-Bedded Intensive Care Unit of 250-Bedded General Hospital, Feni, where he managed critically ill patients requiring emergency stabilization and advanced intensive care support.

Dr. Sheikh Ul Alam completed his postgraduate residency training in Critical Care Medicine at BIRDEM General Hospital, Dhaka, leading to an MD in Critical Care Medicine. His residency provided advanced training in mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, sepsis management, renal replacement therapy, emergency resuscitation, and the comprehensive management of critically ill medical and surgical patients.

In 2019, Dr. Sheikh Ul Alam gained specialized experience in liver transplant critical care while working with the Liver Transplant Team at BIRDEM General Hospital in collaboration with the Liver Transplant Team from Max Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi, India. This experience enhanced his expertise in the perioperative and postoperative critical care management of liver transplant recipients, advanced organ support, and multidisciplinary transplant care.
