Prof. Dr. AKM Shamsul Alam

Dr. A K M Shamsul Alam is a distinguished specialist in Anesthesia and Intensive Care with an illustrious career spanning 33 years in Anesthesia and 14 years in Intensive Care medicine. His expertise encompasses critical care management, pain management, and emergency anesthesia, making him a highly skilled professional in his field.

Dr. Alam completed his MBBS from Chittagong Medical College, Bangladesh, in 1983 and earned his FCPS in Anesthesia from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1991. These qualifications laid a strong foundation for his remarkable career in medical practice and academia.

Throughout his professional journey, Dr. Alam held several prestigious positions, including Professor and Head of the Department of Anesthesia & Intensive Care at Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where he served until his retirement in 2020. His extensive experience includes 8 years as an Anesthesiologist, 1 year as a Junior Consultant, 4 years as an Assistant Professor, 5 years as an Associate Professor, and 15 years as a Professor across various medical colleges and institutes in Bangladesh.

To further enhance his skills, Dr. Alam underwent specialized training in Intensive Care Units at Siriraj University Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand, for 10 days, and at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, UK, for 14 days. These international exposures enriched his knowledge and practice in critical care medicine.

Dr. Alam has contributed significantly to medical literature with 19 research papers published in reputed national and international journals. His work reflects his dedication to advancing the field of Anesthesia and Intensive Care.
