services, Evercare Hospital Chattogram has welcomed Dr. Debashis Chowdhury as Senior
Consultant, Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. With nearly
25 years of clinical experience, Dr. Debashis
Chowdhury brings extensive expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of
gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
Dr. Debashis Chowdhury earned his MBBS degree from the University of
Dhaka in 1987 and later completed his MD in Gastroenterology from Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in 1998. Throughout his academic
career, he has served as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at
Chattogram Medical College, Rangpur Medical College, Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical
College and CMOSH Medical College.
He has also received extensive
international training in hepatology and advanced gastrointestinal care. He
completed a Clinical Fellowship in Liver Diseases at the Institute of Liver and
Biliary Sciences (ILBS), India. Subsequently, he underwent advanced training in
therapeutic endoscopy, hepatology, liver transplant care, and critical care
medicine at the University of Alberta Hospital, McGill University Health
Centre, and St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada.
Dr. Debashis Chowdhury specializes in the management of a wide range
of gastrointestinal and liver disorders, including fatty liver disease,
hepatitis B and C, liver cirrhosis, gastrointestinal bleeding, gastrointestinal
cancers, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS),
pancreatic and biliary diseases, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). He
is also highly experienced in performing advanced endoscopic procedures,
including diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, and other
specialized endoscopic interventions.
In addition to his clinical
expertise, Dr. Debashis
Chowdhury has made significant contributions to medical research. He has
presented scientific papers at prestigious international conferences, including
the ESMO World Congress on Gastrointestinal Cancer and the Asian Pacific
Digestive Week (APDW). Several of his research articles have also been
published in internationally recognized medical journals. He is an
International Member of the American College of Gastroenterology and a member
of the Bangladesh Gastroenterology Society.
