This achievement stands as a testament to Evercare Hospital’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare services to the people of Chattogram and the surrounding regions.

To celebrate this achievement, Evercare Hospital Chattogram observed World Heart Day 2026 today through a press event followed by a rally. Under the theme “Don’t Miss a Beat,” the press event highlighted the importance of early detection of heart disease, making positive lifestyle changes and ensuring access to advanced cardiac care.

The event was attended by Dr. Ratnadeep Chaskar, Managing Director & CEO, Evercare Hospitals Bangladesh (Dhaka and Chattogram); Vinay Kaul, Chief Operating Officer, Evercare Hospital Chattogram; Dr. Hasan Shahriar Kabir, Director, Medical Services, Evercare Hospital Chattogram; Professor Dr Shaikh Md Hasan Mamun, Senior Consultant & Coordinator, Cardiology Department, Evercare Hospital Chattogram; Dr. Zahiruddin Mahmud Illius, Senior Consultant; Dr. Md. Tarik Bin Abdur Rashid, Senior Consultant; Dr. Samir Kumar Pal, Attending Consultant; and Dr. Rakib Chowdhury, Attending Consultant, along with other doctors, officials and employees of the hospital.

In the treatment of complex and high-risk conditions such as heart disease, receiving the right treatment at the right time is critical, and the hospital has been consistently working to ensure timely and quality cardiac care. During the event, the doctors also shared detailed information about more than 6,000 cath procedures performed at the hospital and discussed Evercare Hospital Chattogram’s capabilities in providing advanced cardiac care.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ratnadeep Chaskar, Managing Director & CEO, Evercare Hospitals Bangladesh (Dhaka and Chattogram), said, “We are proud to have provided angioplasty/stenting (PTCA) procedures care to more than 2,000 patients. The trust of our patients and the collective efforts of our entire team have been the key driving forces behind this achievement. We remain committed to ensuring even better care and services in the future.”

Professor Dr Shaikh Md Hasan Mamun, Senior Consultant & Coordinator, Cardiology Department, Evercare Hospital Chattogram, said, “Serving more than 2,000 patients angioplasty/stenting (PTCA) procedures to date is a significant achievement for us. This has been possible because our patients have placed their trust in us. Throughout this journey, our doctors, nurses and other staff members have worked together as a team. I would like to sincerely thank all of them. We will continue our efforts to further improve our services in the future.”

Dr. Zahiruddin Mahmud Illius, Senior Consultant, said, “Symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath or irregular heartbeat should not be ignored. When heart disease is detected at an early stage through regular health check-ups, the chances of saving lives increase significantly. Risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, smoking and family history can increase the risk of heart disease. At the same time, maintaining a healthy heart is possible through positive lifestyle changes, a balanced diet, regular physical activity, stress management, quitting smoking and getting adequate sleep. With greater awareness, preventing heart disease does not have to be difficult.”

Dr. Md. Tarik Bin Abdur Rashid, Senior Consultant, said, “Heart disease is no longer only a problem among older people; it can affect individuals of any age, which is a matter of serious concern. In some cases, symptoms may not be immediately noticeable, while in others, patients or their family members may overlook them. Therefore, regular health check-ups are essential. For those who are already receiving treatment for heart disease, continuing prescribed medication and attending regular follow-ups are equally important.”

Dr. Hasan Shahriar Kabir, Director, Medical Services, Evercare Hospitals Bangladesh, said, “Evercare Hospitals Bangladesh has always been committed to ensuring advanced and reliable healthcare services. Our goal is for every individual to remain aware of their heart health, seek medical attention when necessary and lead a healthy life.”

Dr. Samir Kumar Pal, Attending Consultant, said, “Many patients stop taking their medication or do not attend follow-up appointments once they start feeling better after treatment. This needs to change. Treatment for heart disease is not a one-time matter; rather, it is an ongoing process. Maintaining regular medication as advised by physicians and undergoing periodic health check-ups can help patients maintain their well-being.”

Dr. Rakib Chowdhury, Attending Consultant, said, “Every minute is extremely important in the case of a heart attack. When sudden severe pressure or pain in the chest occurs, some people may think that resting for a while will make them feel better. However, this can increase the risk. It is therefore important to remain aware and bring the patient under medical care as quickly as possible.”

The programme concluded with a rally participated in by the hospital’s doctors, nurses and other officials and employees. The rally moved around the hospital premises, raising awareness about heart health and highlighting the importance of timely healthcare. The rally marked the formal conclusion of the day-long World Heart Day 2026 programme.
