Stroke Awareness: Why Every Second Matters | Evercare Hospital Chattogram

Approximately 2.2 million neurons can die every minute during a stroke. That is why specialists emphasize that every second is critically important for stroke patients. Therefore, as soon as a stroke is suspected, the patient should be taken to the nearest hospital immediately without wasting even a second.”

Dr. Fazle Akbar, General Manager of Evercare Hospital Chattogram, made this statement at a special seminar organized on Saturday afternoon, October 29, to mark World Stroke Day.

Dr. Md. Anisul Islam Khan, Senior Consultant & Coordinator, Department of Neurosurgery, said, “Physiotherapy is one of the important components of stroke treatment and rehabilitation. In many cases, particularly in rural and underserved areas, public awareness about the benefits of physiotherapy remains limited. Many stroke patients develop weakness or deformities of the arms and legs and may continue to live with these disabilities for the rest of their lives. Physiotherapy can be beneficial for such patients. Some people believe that physiotherapy is not effective, but this is a misconception. However, it is important to receive physiotherapy at the right facility and under appropriate professional guidance. Completing the recommended course of rehabilitation can significantly improve the chances of returning to a healthy and independent life.”
