Successful Treatment of Liver Bleeding

Pratima Saha, wife of Swapan Kumar Saha from Sirajganj, fell severely ill at night due to extreme abdominal pain. She was eight months pregnant at the time. When taken to a local hospital, the doctors informed them that there was fluid in her liver and it had ruptured, causing internal bleeding. Later, around midnight, Swapan Kumar Saha brought his critically ill pregnant wife to Evercare Hospital Dhaka. Under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) S. M. Abu Zafar, Senior Consultant, Department of General & Laparoscopic Surgery, immediate treatment was initiated. Upon examination, it was found that due to internal bleeding, her hemoglobin level had dropped to 3%, putting both the mother and unborn baby in a highly critical condition with very little chance of survival. In this life-threatening situation, two emergency surgeries were performed during the night. In the first surgery, the baby was safely delivered, and in the second, the internal bleeding from the liver was controlled.
